Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps and Compressors Specification
This Practice provides the requirements for liquid ring vacuum (LRV) pumps and compressors, drivers, and associated equipment.
This Practice describes the standard arrangement for liquid ring vacuum pumps and compressors and systems employing liquid ring machines. This Practice provides a framework for specifying a skid- mounted liquid ring machines system, “package,” for systems with drivers less than or equal to 150 kW (200 hp). This Practice can be applied to simple once-through arrangements, partial recirculation, and total recirculation systems.
Comment: This Practice can be used in conjunction with API 681.
A liquid ring machine data sheet, RESP004-DM/D, is included with this Practice. This data sheet may be used to communicate purchaser requirements; however, supplemental information may be necessary to fully define process requirements.
Vendor websites provide excellent visualizations of how LRV machines operate.

Rotating Equipment Monitoring Guideline
This Practice provides guidance for the application of instrumentation to monitor rotating equipment for machinery protection, enhanced performance, and predictive maintenance. This Practice describes the following:
a. Typical applications for continuous on-line monitoring of rotating equipment
b. Types of monitoring that could be provided and where they are typically applied
c. Installation considerations specific to type of monitoring equipment
d. General calibration and functional checkout considerations
e. Documentation recommendations
Types of rotating equipment covered in this Practice include centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, gears, steam turbines, gas turbines, electric motors and generators, and other shaft driven equipment. This Practice does not cover the design of anti-surge controllers, performance controllers, seal gas systems, and other equipment auxiliary systems. For information on surge detection and anti-surge control, refer to API 670.

Supplemental Design Criteria and Purchasing Requirements for Shell and Plate Heat Exchangers ASME Code Section VIII, Divisions 1 and 2 (Universally Applicable)
This Practice provides requirements for use by a purchaser for determining the design criteria including design, materials of construction, inspection and testing for shell and plate heat exchangers constructed in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1 or Division 2, henceforth referred to as the Code, and PIP VECV1001. Requirements that are specific to Code, Section VIII, Division 2 are shown in braces { }. This Practice provides requirements for purchasing shell and plate heat exchangers that are to be designed and fabricated by a manufacturer. This Practice also provides guidance for the development of purchase specifications for the construction of new shell and plate heat exchangers that meet the philosophy and requirements of Code, Section VIII, Division 1 {or 2} and PIP VECV1001.
For some heat exchanger purchases, certain requirements in this Practice and in PIP VECV1001 may be assigned by the purchaser to the manufacturer. The specific requirements assigned (e.g., thermal design and the performance rating) can be specified on purchaser’s PIP VEDSP003 Data Sheet.
