HomeDisciplinesHygienic Process

PIP has chosen the term "hygienic",
but different industries use other terminology:

Clean / Cleanable, Sanitary (excludes waste-water sanitation processes), Dairy /Dairy service, Sterile / Sterilized, Aseptic, Purification / Purified, Wash / Washable, Rinse / Rinseable, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP), Clean Design, Stability, Microbiologically Stable, Clean in Place (CIP), Steam in Place (SIP), Clean Out of Place (COP)

Why PIP Hygienic Process Practices?

The Mission of Process Industry Practices is to collaborate to produce a library of engineering Practices encompassing globally relevant guidance and technical criteria within a program that provides opportunity for professional education and leadership development

Therefore, the objective of the Hygienic Process Function Team is to develop and maintain Standards, Practices and Specifications for use in design and construction by leveraging the knowledge of technical experts and Best Engineering Practice Guidance Publications across these industries.

The Hygienic Process Function Team is a uniquely broad teamsince hygienic practices cover the specific needs of “clean” requirements across the spectrum of current PIP Practices from Static/Rotating Equipment to Clean Room Insulation Systems

Most guidance documents and Codes generate a wide range of options that govern minimum requirements of safety and process criteria. PIP Practices define specific, cost effective, and quality standards, specifications, and data sheets for application in common industry applications.
