PIP is a consortium of member companies harmonizing our Member Company’s internal standards for design, procurement, construction, and maintenance. We publish these harmonized documents as “Practices” in the disciplines listed below.

Texaco worked with five refineries to develop a set of project specifications that could be used for similar processing facilities at each refinery. Approximately 50 PIP Practices were used and they helped to unify the requirements in several technical discipline areas. Savings included design contractor work-hours, reduction in engineering, fabrication and construction rework based on a common set of specifications.
